Guttering

Guttering from Oakcrest Roofing

Gutters work hard in the North West. A heavy shower can send a lot of water off a roof in minutes, and a gutter that has dropped, cracked or filled with moss will spill it over the edge. That water runs down walls, saturates brickwork and can cause damp inside, and it splashes back to soak the base of the wall.

We clear blocked gutters and downpipes, reseal leaking joints, and refix sagging brackets to restore the fall. Where the system is brittle or undersized, we replace it with new guttering in a profile that suits the roof area, including deeper profiles for large roofs. Cast iron and aluminium options are available for period or higher-end properties as well as uPVC.

The process

How we carry out guttering

From the first look at the roof to the final clear-up, this is how the job runs.

  1. 1

    Step 1 of 4

    Check the run

We check the fall, joints, outlets and downpipes, and look for overflow staining on the walls.

  2. 2

    Step 2 of 4

    Clear and repair

Debris is cleared and minor faults such as joints and brackets are fixed.

  3. 3

    Step 3 of 4

    Replace where needed

Damaged or undersized runs are replaced with new guttering sized to the roof.

  4. 4

    Step 4 of 4

    Water test

Water is run through the system to confirm the fall and check every joint.

Why homeowners choose Oakcrest for guttering

A written price first

You get an itemised quote before any work starts, so you know what you are paying for and nothing changes once the scaffold is up.

Photos of what we find

We photograph the parts of the roof you cannot see from the ground, so you can judge the problem for yourself rather than take our word for it.

Repair or replace, honestly

If a repair will see the roof through, that is what we quote. When a roof is at the end of its life we tell you, so you can plan instead of paying twice.

Tidy sites, waste removed

Your garden, drive and windows are protected while we work, and every old tile, batten and offcut leaves with us at the end of the job.

Drone roof surveys

Our drone roof survey and aerial inspection service provides an instant, efficient and safe way to assess the condition of your roof. Using HD drones, we capture detailed images and videos of hard-to-reach areas, identifying potential issues like leaks, cracks, and structural damage.

This non-invasive method reduces risks and disruption and results in accurate data without the need for roof ladders or expensive scaffolding. Ideal for residential, commercial or industrial properties, this service ensures thorough, cost-effective inspections every time.

We advise that you get your roof professionally surveyed every 2-3 years to keep up with any potential damage and early signs of wear and tear. If we catch minor repairs early, they will not become a more serious problem in the future.

FAQs

Common questions about guttering

How often should gutters be cleared?

Once a year is sensible for most homes, and more often if there are trees nearby. Moss from the roof also washes into gutters and adds to blockages.

Why do my gutters overflow in heavy rain?

Common causes are blockages, a lost fall so water sits at one end, or gutters too small for the roof area. We find out which before recommending a fix.

Can you match my existing gutters?

Usually. Most common uPVC profiles are still available, and we can match the colour and style.

Are aluminium gutters worth it?

Aluminium is lightweight and durable and can be formed in long continuous lengths, which means fewer joints. It costs more than uPVC but suits some properties well.
