New Roofs
New Roofs from Oakcrest Roofing
A new roof is the right call when the covering has reached the end of its life: tiles that keep slipping, slates flaking apart, rusted nails across whole slopes, or an underlay that has rotted away. Patching a roof in that state means paying for repeat visits. A re-roof replaces every layer above the rafters in one planned job, so you get a covering that is sound from ridge to gutter rather than a collection of repairs.
We start by stripping the old tiles or slates, battens and underlay down to the rafters. With the timbers exposed we check them for rot, woodworm and sagging, photograph anything that needs attention and talk you through it before replacing or strengthening sections. Then a breathable membrane goes on, which lets moisture vapour escape from the loft and cuts the risk of the condensation that older bitumen felt was prone to.
New treated battens are fixed at the correct gauge for your chosen covering, and the roof is finished in concrete tile, clay tile, natural slate or man-made slate, with ridges, hips and verges secured to current fixing guidance. Across Lancashire and Greater Manchester we match the look of neighbouring roofs where that matters, which helps on terraces and older streets. You get a written, itemised quote first, and the site is cleared when we leave.

The process
How we carry out new roofs
From the first look at the roof to the final clear-up, this is how the job runs.
- 1
Step 1 of 4
Survey and written quote
We inspect the roof, and the loft and timbers where accessible, then give you an itemised written price covering the strip, materials and any timber work likely to be needed.
- 2
Step 2 of 4
Scaffold and strip
Scaffolding goes up with edge protection, and the old covering comes off in sections so the house is never left open to the weather for longer than it needs to be.
- 3
Step 3 of 4
Timbers and membrane
Exposed rafters are checked and photographed, any repairs are agreed with you, then breathable membrane and new battens are fixed across every slope.
- 4
Step 4 of 4
Covering and finishing
Tiles or slates are laid and fixed, ridges, hips and verges secured, leadwork renewed where needed, and the scaffold struck after a final check and clean-up.

Why choose us
Why homeowners choose Oakcrest for new roofs
A written price first
You get an itemised quote before any work starts, so you know what you are paying for and nothing changes once the scaffold is up.
Photos of what we find
We photograph the parts of the roof you cannot see from the ground, so you can judge the problem for yourself rather than take our word for it.
Repair or replace, honestly
If a repair will see the roof through, that is what we quote. When a roof is at the end of its life we tell you, so you can plan instead of paying twice.
Tidy sites, waste removed
Your garden, drive and windows are protected while we work, and every old tile, batten and offcut leaves with us at the end of the job.
Pricing
What affects the cost of new roofs
The cost of a new roof depends mainly on:
- Roof size, pitch and the number of slopes, hips and valleys
- Choice of covering: concrete tile, clay tile, natural slate or man-made slate
- How much timber repair the strip reveals
- Scaffold access, including rear alleys, conservatories and neighbouring property

No hidden extras

Aerial inspections
Drone roof surveys
Our drone roof survey and aerial inspection service provides an instant, efficient and safe way to assess the condition of your roof. Using HD drones, we capture detailed images and videos of hard-to-reach areas, identifying potential issues like leaks, cracks, and structural damage.
This non-invasive method reduces risks and disruption and results in accurate data without the need for roof ladders or expensive scaffolding. Ideal for residential, commercial or industrial properties, this service ensures thorough, cost-effective inspections every time.
We advise that you get your roof professionally surveyed every 2-3 years to keep up with any potential damage and early signs of wear and tear. If we catch minor repairs early, they will not become a more serious problem in the future.
