Roof Repairs

Roof Repairs from Oakcrest Roofing

Water travels along rafters and underlay before it drips, so the stain on your ceiling can be a metre or more from the actual defect. We start in the loft where we can, then on the roof, checking tiles, slates, ridges, flashings, valleys and gutters until the entry point is found. You get photos of the problem and a clear explanation before any repair is agreed.

Common repairs include refixing slipped tiles and slates, replacing cracked ones, rebedding loose ridges, renewing failed flashings and clearing blocked valleys. After high winds we make storm-damaged roofs safe quickly, then carry out the permanent repair. If the roof has reached the point where patching is poor value, we say so plainly and set out the cost of repairing against replacing, so the decision is yours.

The process

How we carry out roof repairs

From the first look at the roof to the final clear-up, this is how the job runs.

  1. 1

    Step 1 of 4

    Locate

We inspect inside and out to find where water is getting in, rather than guessing from the position of the stain.

  2. 2

    Step 2 of 4

    Report

You get photos and a written price for the repair, with any wider issues flagged separately.

  3. 3

    Step 3 of 4

    Repair

Damaged tiles, slates, flashings or ridges are replaced or refixed using matching materials.

  4. 4

    Step 4 of 4

    Check

We look over the surrounding area for other weak spots and clear gutters and valleys of any debris we have disturbed.

Why choose us

Why homeowners choose Oakcrest for roof repairs

A written price first

You get an itemised quote before any work starts, so you know what you are paying for and nothing changes once the scaffold is up.

Photos of what we find

We photograph the parts of the roof you cannot see from the ground, so you can judge the problem for yourself rather than take our word for it.

Repair or replace, honestly

If a repair will see the roof through, that is what we quote. When a roof is at the end of its life we tell you, so you can plan instead of paying twice.

Tidy sites, waste removed

Your garden, drive and windows are protected while we work, and every old tile, batten and offcut leaves with us at the end of the job.

What affects the cost of roof repairs

Repair costs depend on:

  • How the affected area is reached: ladder, tower or scaffold
  • The number of tiles or slates needed and their availability
  • Whether flashings, ridges or valleys are involved
  • Any timber or underlay damage found under the covering

Drone roof surveys

Our drone roof survey and aerial inspection service provides an instant, efficient and safe way to assess the condition of your roof. Using HD drones, we capture detailed images and videos of hard-to-reach areas, identifying potential issues like leaks, cracks, and structural damage.

This non-invasive method reduces risks and disruption and results in accurate data without the need for roof ladders or expensive scaffolding. Ideal for residential, commercial or industrial properties, this service ensures thorough, cost-effective inspections every time.

We advise that you get your roof professionally surveyed every 2-3 years to keep up with any potential damage and early signs of wear and tear. If we catch minor repairs early, they will not become a more serious problem in the future.

FAQs

Common questions about roof repairs

Can you stop a leak the same day?

Where it is safe to get on the roof, a temporary repair or make-safe can often be done quickly. The permanent fix may need matching materials or access equipment, which we arrange as soon as possible.

My ceiling stain is not under the damaged tile. Why?

Water runs down the underlay and along timbers before it drips, so it often appears some distance from the defect. That is why we trace the leak rather than just replacing the tile directly above the stain.

Should I repair or replace my roof?

If the problem is local, such as a few slipped tiles or one failed flashing, a repair makes sense. If faults keep appearing across the roof, or the underlay and fixings have failed generally, repeated repairs can cost more than a re-roof. We give you both options honestly.

Is storm damage covered by insurance?

Many home insurance policies cover sudden storm damage but not wear and tear. We provide photos and a written note of what we found, which your insurer may ask for. Check your policy and speak to your insurer before making a claim.
