Garage Roof Repairs

Garage Roof Repairs from Oakcrest Roofing

Garages, attached and detached, often carry the oldest roof on the property. Many have a single layer of felt on chipboard that has softened over the years, or corrugated sheets that have turned brittle. Because the garage is used for storage, a slow leak can go unnoticed until boxes, tools or a car have been sitting in damp for months.

For small faults we patch and reseal. Where the deck has gone soft, the better answer is a new roof: fresh boards, correct falls and a modern felt, rubber or fibreglass finish. Pitched garage roofs are repaired or re-tiled in the same way as a house roof. If an old sheet roof may contain asbestos, it needs testing and handling by a specialist removal contractor first, and we tell you when that applies.

Why choose us

Why homeowners choose Oakcrest for garage roof repairs

A written price first

You get an itemised quote before any work starts, so you know what you are paying for and nothing changes once the scaffold is up.

Photos of what we find

We photograph the parts of the roof you cannot see from the ground, so you can judge the problem for yourself rather than take our word for it.

Repair or replace, honestly

If a repair will see the roof through, that is what we quote. When a roof is at the end of its life we tell you, so you can plan instead of paying twice.

Tidy sites, waste removed

Your garden, drive and windows are protected while we work, and every old tile, batten and offcut leaves with us at the end of the job.

Drone roof surveys

Our drone roof survey and aerial inspection service provides an instant, efficient and safe way to assess the condition of your roof. Using HD drones, we capture detailed images and videos of hard-to-reach areas, identifying potential issues like leaks, cracks, and structural damage.

This non-invasive method reduces risks and disruption and results in accurate data without the need for roof ladders or expensive scaffolding. Ideal for residential, commercial or industrial properties, this service ensures thorough, cost-effective inspections every time.

We advise that you get your roof professionally surveyed every 2-3 years to keep up with any potential damage and early signs of wear and tear. If we catch minor repairs early, they will not become a more serious problem in the future.

FAQs

Common questions about garage roof repairs

Is it worth repairing an old felt garage roof?

If the felt is damaged in one area and the deck is firm, a repair is good value. If the boards flex underfoot or the felt is cracked all over, a new roof will outlast repeated patches by a long way.

My garage has a corrugated roof. Can you replace it?

Yes, it can usually be replaced with a new deck and flat roof system or with modern sheeting. Older corrugated cement sheets may contain asbestos and need testing before removal, which we can advise on.

Do I need planning permission to replace a garage roof?

Like-for-like replacement normally does not. Changing a flat roof to pitched, or raising the height, may need permission, so check with your local council before committing to that kind of change.

Can you fit a rooflight while replacing the garage roof?

Yes. A new flat roof is the easiest time to add one, because the upstand can be built into the deck and sealed into the new membrane.
